Family Hosts 40th Annual Angus Bull Sale

The
Mike Sitz Family held their 40th Annual Bull Sale, Monday, February
4, 2013, at the Burwell Livestock Market, Burwell, Nebraska. 70
Coming-Two-Year-Old bulls averaged $4475.
Potential buyers did not have to battle snow and ice, which is the
usual tradition of Sitz’s sale day, but there was a sense
of apprehension from the crowd as the drought weighs heavily on
each cattleman’s mind.
Clayton
Gurney, Burwell, took home the high selling bull, Lot 27, MSAR
Right Time 1069, for $8000. MSAR Right Time 7757 sired this
bull, and his dam is a MSAR Foghorn daughter. This bull had
epds of +4 on CED, +2.4 on Birth, +47 on Wean, +92 on Yearling,
+6 on CEM and a Milk epd of +24. He had an actual Birth Weight
of 91 and a Wean Ratio of 107 and a Yearling Ratio of 114. |

Lot
8, MSAR Forte 1087, also from a home raised sire, MSAR Forte
6776, went near Dunning, Nebraska for $7750. With Sitz Traveler
8180 and MSAR Rainmaker on the bottom side of the pedigree,
the dam had a Birth Ratio of 11calves at 106, a Wean Ratio of
11 calves at 104, and a Yearling Ratio of 7 calves at 109. MSAR
Forte 1087 had a +3.1 for Birth, +39 for Wean, +80 for Yearling,
and a +23 for Milk. He had a 90-pound Birth Weight, a Wean ratio
of 103 and a Yearling Ratio of 101. |
Clayton
Gurney purchased a son of CAR Chinnook, Lot 48, for $7500.
The dam was a daughter of MSAR Forte 6776. An eye appealing
calving ease bull he had an actual birth weight of 78 pounds,
a CED of +11, a Birth epd of +1.3, a Wean of +44, Yearling
of +84 and Milk of +22.
Trent
Colburn of Wood Lake took home Lot 66, MSAR Emblazon 1041,
for $7250. Sired by MSAR Emblazon 4086, the dam is a CAR Chinnook
786 daughter with MSAR Traveler 6802-4091 on the bottom side
of the pedigree. |

calving ease bull, he had an actual birth weight of 70 pounds,
a CED of +15, a Birth edp of –1.3, a Wean of +46, a
Yearling of +78, CEM of +11 and Milk of +21. He had a Wean
Ratio of 105 and a Yearling Ratio of 104.
