Hosts 49th Annual Bull Sale

Mike and Debra Sitz, and Joel and Bethany Johnston, held their 49th Annual Bull Sale on an unusually warm and sunny day, Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Burwell Livestock Market, Burwell, Nebraska. For nearly a century the Sitz family has been devoted to building a cowherd centered around functional and problem free Angus genetics. This was a very uniform set of bulls with 86 head averaging $5706.

The high selling bull was Lot 27, MSAR Creed 0018, selling to repeat customer, Brandon Bruha for $17,000. This larger framed, high capacity, long bodied, high-performance bull has a Wean Ratio of 128 and a Yearling Ratio of 123, with a 85-pound birth weight and a scrotal circumference of 42 cm. The bullís EPDís were +1 for CED, +2.4 Birth, +71 for Wean, +126 for Yearling, + 3 for CEM and +25 for Milk. The dam is Msar Marshall Queen 8057, a MSAR Walk On 4 Traveler 5021 daughter.

Repeat customers LB Haase and Sons, Inc, Valentine, purchased Lot 10, JJA Charlo 0163, a bull from the Joel and Bethany Johnston herd, for $12,000. This bull is high ratioing and deep bodied. His dam is from the Proud Formera cow line, his maternal grandsire being Rito 054 GDAR. He had a + 10 CED, and -0.3 Birth, a +47 Wean, a +81 Yearling, + 3 CEM, +26 Milk, with a 80-pound birth weight, with a Wean Ratio of 107 and a Yearling Ratio of 106.

Another AAA Creed 5802 son, Lot 34, MSAR Creed 0029, sold to repeat buyer, Terry Murphy, Stuart, NE, for $12,000. This thick made, big middled bull has a Wean Ratio of 101, and a Yearling Ratio of 101. He has + 5 for CED, and +1.3 Birth, a +54 Wean, a +98 Yearling, + 5 CEM, +24 Milk, with a 79-pound birth weight. His dam is from the Dora cow family with MSAR Walk On 4 Traveler 502 and Traveler 6802 bloodlines.

MSAR Creed 0008, Lot 24, sold to repeat customer, Hauserman Ranch, North Platte, NE, for $10,500. This bull is long and deep, and a high-capacity performance bull. He has a 74-pound birth weight with 109 for a Wean Ratio and 108 for a Yearling Ratio. He has a + 8 CED, a -0.1 for Birth, +58 for Wean, +107 for Yearling, +7 for CEM and +23 for Milk. His dam is from the Blackbird line with Bandwagon and CAR Chinook in her bloodlines.

Lot 22, MSAR Creed 0003, brought $10,250, selling to Brandon Bruha, Ord, NE. A calving ease, and performance bull, he has a birth weight of 67 pounds and Wean and Yearling Ratios at 112. He had a CED of + 10, a Birth of -1.6, a Wean of +57, a Yearling of +103 a CEM of +7 and Milk of +25. The dam is from the Marshall Queen line, with Game Day and Right Time in her pedigree.

Lot 36, another Creed son from the Johnston herd, JJA Creed 0151, found a new home at the Keller Ranch, Bassett, NE, for $10,000. This calving ease bull had a birth weight of 68 pounds, complete with performance with a Wean Ratio of 116 and a Yearling Ratio of 106. He has a +6 for CED, a +0.3 for Birth, a +59 for Wean, + 101 for Yearling, +7 for CEM and a + 24 for Milk. Dam is from the Marshall Queen line with Black Cedar 46P on her top side.

Sire, AAR Creed 5802, ruled the day as another deep bodied and thick Creed son, Lot 26, MSAR Creed 0011, sold to Hauserman Ranch, North Platte, for $10,000. His birth weight was 81 pounds, having a Wean Ratio of 116 and Yearling Ratio at 112. He has a + 8 for CED, a + .6 for Birth, a +60 for Wean, +104 for Yearling, + 6 for CEM and a +25 for Milk. His dam is from the Evidences Eppionia cow family, and is a line bred to MSAR Emblazon 4086.
